AUBURN — On Tuesday, May 10, at approximately 9:40 p.m., Officer Matthew Alexandrovich of the Auburn Police Department was conducting traffic enforcement in the area of 871 Southbridge Street when he observed a car with defective plate lights pass by.
“The vehicle had defective plate lights, making the plate unreadable within 60 feet,” wrote Officer Alexandrovich in his Statement of Facts in Support of Application for Criminal Complaint submitted to Worcester District Court. “I entered onto Southbridge Street (public way) and began following the vehicle. I requested a registration check of the vehicle by dispatch prior to conducting the stop. A check of CJIS/RMV revealed that the vehicle was revoked for insurance, the registered owner’s license was suspended and had no updated safety inspection results.”
Officer Alexandrovich pulled the car over in front of the Home Depot located at 779 Washington Street. The driver of the vehicle, Arturo De La Hoz, 29, of Norfolk Street in Worcester, handed his Massachusetts license to Officer Alexandrovich.
“Mr. De La Hoz was notified that his license was suspended and I requested that Mr. De La Hoz exit the vehicle,” wrote Officer Alexandrovich in his Statement of Facts. “Mr. De La Hoz was placed under arrest and escorted to my cruiser where I double locked the handcuffs.”
Officers Brandyn Geldart and James Ljunggren conducted a vehicle inventory as Officer Alexandrovich requested a tow.
According to Officer Alexandrovich, during the search, Officer Ljunggren found the following in the center console of the vehicle: two 15 round high-capacity Glock 9mm magazines, a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson pistol, a Glock 9mm slide with trigger mechanism parts and a 12-gauge Mossberg shotgun.
De La Hoz was charged with Operation of Motor Vehicle with License Suspended, Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Unregistered Motor Vehicle, No Inspection Sticker, and Possession of Large Capacity Feeding Device.
De La Hoz’s bail was set at $500. He was arraigned in Worcester District Court on May 11, where he plead not guilty.
Prior to his arraignment, the charge of Possession of Large Capacity Feeding Device was dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth because De La Hoz had a valid license to carry.
De La Hoz is scheduled for a pretrial conference hearing on July 18.
